1-You get to enjoy all employee benefits and 

privileges upon entering the U.S. for a temporary 

work.

4-You can switch jobs as long as you can show a new job offer and have a new petition filed and approved on your behalf. 

5-USCIS generally grants H2B visas up till the period the employer needs the services. 

6-Before your visa expires, you can extend your stay up to 1 year, increments for a total of 3 years.

determines the citizens of countries, that are eligible to get H-2B visas and this gets updated each year.

The applicants who may be issued an H-2B visa or otherwise granted H-2B status during a fiscal year. Currently,  the H-2B cap has been set at 66,000 per year. However, unused H-2B numbers from one fiscal year do not carry over into the next.

Once the H-2B cap is reached, USCIS may only accept petitions for H-2B workers who are exempt from the H-2B cap. 


Generally, the USCIS may grant those on an H-2B status up to the period of time authorized on the temporary labor certification. Those may be extended for qualifying employment in increments of up to 1 year each. The maximum period of stay in H-2B classification is 3 years.
