GORGEOUS HOLY LAKE IN BHUTAN-TSHOKAR located above SANGYE DZONG.

Singye Dzong is one of the sacred places visited by Guru Rinpoche in the history of Bhutan. Thousands of pilgrims make a visit every year. It is also located within the Bumdeling Wildlife Sanctuary close to the Tibetan border. It is three day journey from the road head in Lhuentse. The closest communities to Singye Dzong are Khomagang and Denchung villages. Currently, the area has mediation center that accommodates 12 monks in a three year retreat, two main monasteries are Gawa Dzong and Singye Dzong.

Route:

Wangla Mountain is also a sacred place where Guru Chana Dorji meditated. The surrounding around the lhakhang is very clean with beautiful flowers favorable in high altitude. The one can experience fresh air to breathe and calm place to rest. At present Singye dzong has Drupdey headed by lam and 7 monks meditating.The main relic of singye dzong is Phurpa Terma.

Singye Dzong - The mystical Lion Fortress 

A top a ridge overlooking Kurichhu river is a fortress called Lhuendrup Rinchentse Dzong – The Fortress of the Precious Peak of Spontaneous Fulfillment. According to National Library of Bhutan, the Dzong was initially constructed by Yongzin Ngagi Wangchuck in 1554, the youngest son of great Drukpa Lama Ngawang Choegyal as a meditation center. The present dzong structure, according to Legshey Phendhey Wangchuk, was constructed in 1665 during the time of Trongsa Penlop Chogyel Minjur Tenpa after which a Rabdey was instituted by 4th Desi Gyalsey Tenzin Rabgay.

According to another account, Ngagi Wangchuk first meditated at Timula. Later, when he went to look for a winter seat, he arrived at the present site of Lhuentse Dzong. The local deity appeared before him in the form of a white, bleating goat which was taken as an auspicious sign. He then built a temple and named as LeyLey Dzong (the fortress of the Goat) after the sound of the goat’s bleat. Another story says that a stone below the Dzong is in the shape of goat; and it is said that this stone bleated, alluding to the Dzong’s name. Another account states that below the Minjey village is a rock shaped like a frog that bleated like goat. The people considered this an unfavorable sign and shifted the site to the present site.

Later, Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel followed the routes of his great ancestor Yongzin Ngagi Wangchuk and visited Kurtoe Lhuentse Phodrang. During his visit, he planned to build a new Dzong but it could not be materialized due to presence of several local Kings who were not in good terms amongst themselves. Therefore, he prayed that a Dzong be built at Kurtoe Lhuentse Phodrang bringing whole of Kuri Dozhi under the control of central government in the future.

In 1654, the joint force of Gawa (King of Phagidung) and Dharma (King of Kidling) attacked Timula Dzongpoen Lhadhar for no reason. During that time, a civil war between Choetse Penlop Choegyal Minjur Tenpa and Bumthang Choekhor Dhepa had just ended and the forces of Choetse Penlop and Druk Desi were celebrating their victory. The relatives of Dzongpoen Lhadhar were aware of the presence of combined troops of Druk Desi and Choetse Penlop at Bumthang and approached Choetse Penlop for assistance. Choetse Penlop who was then well aware of Zhabdrung’s prophecy to bring Kurtoe region under central government consented to their request. Whole troops of Druk Desi and Choetse Penlop marched towards Kurtoe and captured two kings bringing Kurtoe under control of central government.

Pilgrim Centers:

There are numerous pilgrim centers in Lhuentse. And almost all are associated with Guru Rinpoche and Tertons. Singye Dzong, Rinchen Bumpa, Phuningla, Ney Khenpajong, and Sangwai Dadru are the sacred places while Menkhar, Karphu, Lukchu, Kuenzangling, Goshogpang, Timula, Khochung lhakhang and Dungkar Choejee Naktsang are some of the oldest lhakhangs constructed by Buddhist luminaries like Guru Chowang, Ratna Lingpa, Pema Lingpa, Khedrup Kuenga Wangpo and Yongzin Ngagi Wangchuk. Dungkar Khetangbi Naktsang, where Jigme Namgyel was born, stands in original grandeur. The 149 ft Guru statue, the would-be the tallest one in the world, is being constructed at Takila under Menbi Gewog.

Singye Dzong & Roelmateng

Description: 

There are five main sacred places associated with Guru Rinpoche who brought Buddhism to Bhutan. It is called sacred place of the body, speech, mind, qualities and activity. Singye Dzong is considered the most sacred place associated with activity while other four main sacred places are in Tibet. There are eight sacred places in Singye Dzong– all described as Dzongs. One will take a day to visit all these Dzongs and another day to visit Tshokar Tshona and Terday Lhatsog. Three hours walk down towards east is the Rolmateng Ney whereby one may take another day to visit the main sacred places.

According to the description of the sacred places, a visit to Singye Dzong shall liberate oneself from being born in lower realms and fulfill whatever one wishes and prays for his life.

 Route / Lodge:

The journey to Singye Dzong starts from Khomazam or Khoma village. It takes three days to reach Singye Dzong. One has to make two night halts on the way – first night at Khomagang or Tsikhang and second night at Thangkarmo. All pilgrims are advised to start early morning from Khoma on day 1 so as to reach Tsikhang before dark. To see the details of the route please visit Singye Dzong Route Map. In general the route is safe but all are warned to be careful especially at points where there are steep cliffs and a small wrong move would prove to be fatal sometimes. Thangkarmo is located in the wilderness with no villages nearby except for a small guesthouse. There is also a guest house at Tsikhang. Yet you will experience the natural music of Khomachhu as the guesthouse is just at the right bank of the stream. To avoid accommodation problems all groups are advised to carry your own tent especially during the peak season.

Travel and Health Advisory Note

All visitors must obtain a travel permit from Khoma gup and prior to obtaining the permit one must undergo proper medical checkups so as to prepare for the trip. Generally people with pressure problems and heart problems are advised to consult physicians and if they suffer from such problems they must take the physicians’ advices seriously should they wish to continue on their pilgrimage to Singye Dzong. 

Anyone wishing to hire horses may consult Mr. Sithar Tshering, Gup of Khoma Gewog @ 17704198 or Mr. Pema Tshering, Mangmi @17303515 before one week in advance to make necessary arrangements.

 When to visit:

May to second week of October is the advisable season to visit Singye Dzong. Last week of September to second week of October is the best season as there shall be no rainfall and snowfall. You will need to confirm on the condition of footpath should you wish to visit in the summer season.

 Climate:

As the place is located at an altitude of 4482 meters above sea level, it is comparatively colder than other places. The altitude of Tshokar, Tshona and Terdag Lhatshog are even higher and has harsh climatic conditions.

 Dress:

One is advised to carry warm clothes and a very good sleeping bag to Singye Dzong. The routes are mostly wet and therefore all are advised to carry a good trekking boot and a pair of comfortable walking shoes. Use of shoe gaiters is highly recommended. If you are thinking of wearing a rain-boot and you are not used to wearing one, you will have to be prepared of the pain and the blisters it will cause.

1st of November is celebrated in BHUTAN as CORONATION DAY. On this day in 2008, the formal Coronation Ceremony of His Majesty The King as the 5th DRUK GYALPO OF BHUTAN was held, Year that marked 100 years of monarchy in BHUTAN. 

His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck is the eldest son of the 4th Dragon King Jigme Singye Wangchuck, and Queen Ashi Tshering Yangdon. 

After completing his higher secondary studies at Yangchenphug High School, Khesar studied abroad at Phillips Academy Andover then transferred to Cushing Academy, Where he finished high school. He then attended Wheaton College before graduating from Magdalen College, University of Oxford, where he completed the Foreign Service Programme and International Relations.

The King's first landmark project after his formal coronation was launching the National Cadastral Resurvey in March 2009, aimed at resolving long-standing issues of excess land that affect every Bhutanese household.

One of the most important and ongoing works of the King involves Kidu, a tradition based on the rule of a Dharma King whose sacred duty is to care for his people. 

The King initiated military-style training for volunteers known as the DeSuung Training Programme in 2011, on the request of the youth. 

The King signed a new treaty of friendship with India in February 2007, replacing the treaty of 1949.[42] Many government initiatives were undertaken by the new King with a view to strengthen the system in preparation for the democratic changes in 2008. The Constitution of Bhutan was adopted on 18 July 2008 by the first elected parliament.

John D. Rockefeller 

John D. Rockefeller, richest American to have ever lived. At the time of his death in 1937, he was worth $340billion in today's dollars - he was also the first American acquire a net worth over $1billion. In 1870, he founded the Standard Oil Company, which dominated American Oil production and his monopoly was eventually broken up by the U.S. government into smaller companies including Amoco, Chevron Conoco, and ExxonMobil. 

Two years after building an oil refinery in 1863 with his business partner Maurice B. Clark, Mr Rockefeller bought him out for $72,500 and established the firm of Rockefeller & Andrews, which he said 'determined' his career.

He then spent the last 40 years of his life in retirement, using his fortune to create foundations that had an unparallelled effect on medicine, education, and scientific research.

In 1884, Rockefeller provided major funding for a college in Atlanta for African-American women, which became Spelman College, also giving $80million to the University of Chicago, turning the small Baptist college into a world-class institution by 1900.

It was after Standard Oil moved its headquarters to Manhattan at 26 Broadway that Mr Rockefeller became a central figure in the New York City's community. 

In 1901, he founded the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research, which was instrumental in the eradication of hookworm and yellow fever, and later changed its name to Rockefeller University in 1965.

“He spreads the love like he spreads the butter.”

Nicaragua’s city dump is called La Chureca. It’s the final destination for most of the city’s garbage, including mountains of fecal matter, medical waste and battery acid. Hundreds of people live inside the dump, where families construct their homes out of the trash. It was here, in the middle of the wasteland, that a Jamaican prophetess named Mrs. Ruby had come to live among the poorest of the poor, praying over them and speaking to them on God’s behalf. It's very sad to see people suffering in this generation. 

Let me share story about James my friend whom I met 2009 June. 

James walked into the kitchen and hopped on top of the counter, not sure how his mom was going to react to what he was about to tell her. He sat there quietly watching her cook at the oven. James had been restless lately. She knew something was up.

“Yes?” she asked.

“Mom,” James said, “I feel like I want to be homeless.”

James remembers her response was simple, yet profoundly beautiful.

“She’s got these beautiful big, round eyes,” he said, “and she started tearing up. She nodded her head and just looked at me, and said, ‘OK.’”

James’ dad said it would be a neat adventure. His boss thought he was a fool, but he quit his job in September of 2009 and put some of his belongings up for sale on Craigslist, the rest up for sale in the driveway. 

James stayed at home to gather support. He started sleeping on the streets in Tallahassee, handing out socks and clothing to those in need, but eventually he ran out of items to give and money to buy more with.

A graphic design major in college, he made a t-shirt design and had some shirts printed that simply read, “Clothe Naked Kids as Yourself.” He began selling them, and pouring all the profits back into helping the homeless.

By the end of 2010, Clothe Naked Kids As Yourself had become an official non-profit organization.

All of the profit goes to benefit either The Kenyan Knitting Project, which pays the salaries of Kenyan women who knit uniforms for Kenyan orphans, or The Brigade Project, which provides a way for community members to request and then hand deliver basic goods to the homeless in their area.

Today, James lives in a parsonage in a little surf town in Melbourne, Florida, where some 70-plus kids at First United Methodist Church call him their youth pastor. Others call him a saint. Some call him crazy. But the homeless who James met along his journey will always call him by the nick name they gave him on the streets: Mr. Butters — because as they say, “he spreads the love like he spreads the butter.”

-I don’t know why but certain feeling of joy enters my life the minute I reminisce about my childhood.

My parents helped me to be independent and strong, allowed me to experience life on my own terms, they had let me walk for 5km towards school (Trashi Gang Jr. School) and back home (My village: Pam,Kheri). I studied as dayscholer.

My childhood was painful in some way. The emotion that gripped me was too deep and intense that in the end it left me raw, exposed and yes in pain that it had led me become a better person and let me believe more in my self.

I was the youngest child in the family (generally believed that youngest child are most pampered and always had more attention from their parents and family members yet in my case it was a complete different story). My brothers and sisters were already in government jobs and my eldest brother Kuenga was serving as Lopen (religious teacher) at Trashigang Dzong leading a comfortable life but they had their own life and were helpless.

My part time work during the cold winter was to accompany my Lt. Dad visiting in and around our village performing rituals ceremony as and when the villagers invited us. The little money I earned, I used to spend in buying my school stuffs such as uniform, stationary and so on. I vividly remember that I wore the same uniform for almost 4 years, I didn’t even have school shoes nevertheless I was lucky enough to have a pair of slippers.

The unforgettable day in my life would be the day I received an empty envelope from Thimphu (letter send by my loving brother and sister, I understand they might have forgotten to put the letter inside due to some unavoidable circumstances) That was the first and last letter i had ever received.

No matter how much suffering endured, we never want to let go and forget those memories. The worst part of holding the memories was not the pain but it is the loneliness, memories needs to be expressed.

Her Royal Highness Princess Eeuphelma Choden Wangchuck married Dasho Thinlay Norbu in a Royal Wedding ceremony Today - 29th October 2020.

The Royal Wedding was held at Dechencholing Palace in Thimphu. The Royal Couple received the blessings of His Majesty The King, His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo and His Holiness the Je Khenpo.

Her Royal Highness Princess Eeuphelma Choden Wangchuck was born in 1993 to His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo and Her Majesty Gyalyum Sangay Choden Wangchuck. Her Royal Highness graduated with a major in Sociology from Georgetown University in the United States in 2016. As President of the Bhutan Paralympic Committee, Her Royal Highness represents Bhutan internationally to take forward the participation of Bhutanese athletes with disabilities in various global sporting events.

Dasho Thinlay Norbu was born to Yab Dhondup Gyaltshen and Yum Sonam Choki in 1992, and is the younger brother of Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen. After graduating from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University, Dasho trained as a pilot and has been flying for the National Airline Drukair since 2019.

Introduction.

Self:

Am well known as long distance marathon runner (took part in NYC annual marathon in 2009, 2010 & 2011, received participation medal). Born June 26 1978, brought up in GNH philosophy Kingdom so called BHUTAN. (The sole surviving Himalayan Buddhist Kingdom, Bhutan is located between the Tibetan Plateau and India, making it one of the most remote and pristine environments on earth. Descending from 7,000-metre high peaks in the north to the low-lying plains of the south, Bhutan’s rivers have forged deep valleys separated by high mountain passes. Historically isolated, each valley’s scenic beauty and topography affords visitors an opportunity for unique journeys of discovery between them.) After i graduated from NYFA/USA, develop my career as independent filmmaker.

As early as 1997 participants in DDC produced Drama Festival and also played in films-NPD production (Youth Club, Bhutan) an acclaimed, artfully distinguished film that was nominated for Dzongkha Development Film Festival Award 1997 BHUTAN. Also directed & short film  "Cook Book" and the “FlashBack" before snagging my  first win for "Best Independent Filmmaker" with “Blind” and “Happy Journey” in inter-school film Festival.

Having a taste, I started acting in unsuccessful films with NPD and Singer with Music Druk (Trying to be Billy Joe) while i was Yangchenphug Higher Secondary School, BHUTAN and Kalimpong Government Colleges, West Bengal, India, (Did Bachelor of Commerce). later attended the film school New York Film Academy USA (with Support from American Family) created own effects business-RINARTS, geared towards the youths independent film market in United State.

Hope:

For the longest time, I’ve hoped to find an environment in which I can distribute, nurture, and produce new voices in smart, inventive genre films and channel my own-RINARTS, I’ve found a real home for live production, a partnership based on hard work, understanding of each other and, above all, faith.

Awards:

In truth a family is what you make it. It is made strong, not by number of heads counted at the dinner table, but by the rituals you help family members create, by the memories you share, by the commitment of time, caring, and love you show to one another, and by the hopes for the future you have as individuals and as a unit.
