DV-2024 Registration will resume October 5, Wednesday 2022.

ALL ABOUT  ELECTRONIC DIVERSITY VISA PROGRAM.

The diversity visa lottery has to be a totally random process of selection. Bias, prejudice, racism, class, wealth, political views, status, and other unfavorable conditions have to be weeded out of the selection processes. The DV lottery does not select people. The lottery is designed to select applications from all of the applications that are processed into its system. There is no first come, first served. All candidates who have filed applications must undergo pre-screening through their applications for entry in the lottery. Of course, all applications must be filed electronically to be accepted in the process.

Millions of applications have to be processed through similar procedures. As these applications are processed electronically, they would be assigned codes and processing numbers for accessibility through computers. Paperwork would be bulky and cumbersome in the processing and selection of applications for the lottery. Each application is assigned a code and number for quick access and location. That might be the reason and purpose for the requirement for filing and processing applications electronically.

If the applications have passed the pre-screening tests, then the candidates are issued final notifications by being assigned confirmations that their applications have passed must for participation in the diversity lottery. If applications have been eliminated or have failed the process, the filing of another application will not be accepted (the applications would be mooted). By the time of the notifications, the pre-application process would be closed. Only one application per family is accepted. Similarly, names cannot be added to different applications. The applications would be eliminated from the lottery. All regulations and rules must be followed accordingly for acceptance into the diversity lottery.

Preparation is absolutely necessary for participation in the lottery. Passports must be current. Birth certificates and other viable documents must be available. Certain levels of education are acceptable for filing applications. Any person with higher education, including diplomas and unique skills, can be excluded from participation. Yes, applicants can be deemed or considered overqualified. They might be required to file applications for other types of visas in the system through employment with companies and corporations that assist potential foreign workers and employees in search of employment in foreign countries.

As applications are registered in the system and these applications have passed the scheduled processes to undergo participation in the lottery, the drawing is controlled electronically through the codes that are assigned to each application. Remember, this process is a lottery. As all selections are expected to be processed randomly, an assigned computer is assigned the process and task of selection.

The hands-off process eliminates manipulation, biases, and prejudices in selections. There is no winning strategy for entry in the DVD lottery. Selection is based on the luck of the draw. The lottery is a "wait and see" process.

The DV lottery selection is a "random selection" among "qualified candidates."

Once selected and your number is "current," you get a notification of "potential visa availability," and at that stage you have to fill out different paperwork and finally have an interview with a US embassy or consular officer.

You will never be 100% sure of getting a visa until you actually have it stamped on your passport. It is a complex but rewarding process.

The winners of the Diversity Visa lottery are chosen at random by a computer program, with a certain number of visas allocated to each region of the world and no one country receiving more than 7% of the Diversity Visas available in any given year.

Not selected.

It’ll be in the DOS files somewhere until the days of the DV pick are over by the end of September. If you're concerned that this will affect any visa application, the answer is no, because technically you're not actually applying for an immigration visa, all you’ve done is register for the opportunity to win the right to apply for an immigration visa, which is different.

The DV lottery is a totally random process carried out by an audited computer system at USCIS.

DV-2024 Registration will resume October 5, Wednesday 2022.

Registration for the green card lottery program for fiscal year 2024 (DV-2024) begins Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at 12pm EDT and runs until Tuesday, November 8, 2022.

The green card lottery program, officially known as the Diversity Visa program, is run by the US State Department and makes on a lottery basis up to 55,000 green cards available to nationalities of countries with history low rates of immigration to the United States.

Countries that have more than 50,000 of their citizens immigrate to the US over the previous five years are excluded from participating in the program. For DV-2024, that list includes Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China (including Hong Kong SAR), Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, South Korea, United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories, Venezuela, and Vietnam.

To participate in the lottery, the entrant must be from an eligible country (not from any of the above countries in the above list). The entrant must also have either at least a high school education or two years work experience in an occupation that requires at least two years of training or experience to perform.

Registration for entry into the lottery is done exclusively online by submitting Form DS-5501 on the DV program website and is free of charge.

Registration starts on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at 12pm EDT and ends on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at 12pm EST.

Applicants who submit an entry will receive a confirmation number in their email. Only one entry per individual is permitted. Those who submit multiple entries will be disqualified.

Results will be available online in May 8, 2023. Winners will then be required to submit entries for US permanent residency, undergo background checks and interviews before they can immigrate to the US as permanent resident.

The State Department reminds entrants that registration for the lottery is completely free of charge. The Department does not charge any fee, and that any website, individual or company claiming the Department charges a fee is trying to defraud entrants. Additionally, the only legitimate way to register for the lottery is on the DV lottery website: https://dvprogram.state.gov.
